Dear Rachel Carson Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Rachel Carson Elementary! I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing summer break. I am highly anticipating seeing everyone in September when we begin the new school year! We will confidently partner together to provide a high-quality education to each of our students.
Even though it is summer break, we have been busy at Rachel Carson preparing for the upcoming school year. I’d like to take this time to share staffing changes, provide you with important information, as well as inform you on important dates for the first few months of the school year.
First, let’s welcome our new staff members to the Carson family:

It is important that we have updated information for your student. We ask that parents review, update, and verify emergency information prior to school starting on September 5th. This can be done by logging into Skyward and accessing the Students and Families tab.
August and September are busy times at Rachel Carson Elementary. Listed below are a few important dates to add to your calendars.

| • August 31st | Meet and Greet at Carson, 2:00-3:00. Hope to see you all here! |
| • August 31st | PTSA sponsored Ice Cream Social on playground 3:00-4:30 (see attachment) |
| • September 5th | First Day of School for 1st – 5th grade (9:20-12:20) Coffee and Conversation in the commons (9:30 am) |
| • September 5th-7th | Family Connection Meetings (Kindergarten only, no school for kinder) |
| • September 5th-7th | Family Connection Meetings 1st – 5th grade (12:20-3:50) |
| • September 8th | First Day of Kindergarten (staggard start, more information to come) |
| • September 11th | First Day of Kindergarten (staggard start, more information to come) |
| • September 12th | First day of Preschool AM (8:40-11:10) and Preschool PM (12:10-2:40) |
| • September 13th | 1.5 hour early release schedule begins for Wednesday’s (2:20 Dismissal) |
| • September 15th | First day of SNAPS |
I am looking forward to beginning the 2023-2024 school year and hope you are as well. Carson is fortunate to have an amazing group of students, a supportive parent community, and a dynamic group of educators. We will surely have a fantastic year where each student will learn and grow while having fun along the way!
